Next Project: Iconia X Ubuntu

So far I've pretty much settled in on my new apartment.  Everything is pretty much where they have to.  I believe its time I get back on my hobbies.  One of which is hacking :p

In recent years, I got interested in hacking... But I'm the lazy hack I don't develop the hack I just download and use other developers hack (thanks to XDA Developers).  I used to do it on Phones, Game consoles and Netbooks.  I have a Iconia Tab lying around and I thought maybe I should install a different OS into it.

Initially I thought, do they have Windows for it? But Windows is a impossible mission (Wink* Wink*) because of the Processor architecture but luckily and grateful to the Open Source community Linux can.

As you all know the Acer Iconia A500 runs Android Honeycomb OS on the Tegra 2 Platform. Save us all the chit chat: below are the specs.

10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen (1280 x 800)
1GHz Dual-Core NVIDIA Tegra 250, NVIDIA GeForce Graphics
1GB DDR2
16GB internal memory, MicroSD expandable
Front-facing 2.0 megapixel webcam, rear 5.0 megapixel camera with flash
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
MicroSD card reader, USB 2.0, micro USB, HDMI, 3.5 mm headset

So I will chronicle this new project of mine, from the downloads to the coffee breaks ;) and find out if the Acer Iconia A500 is capable of running Ubuntu Linux.
Stay tuned kids.
