Today is another day and tomorrow, is PUBLIC HOLIDAY!!! Yes, tomorrow is Good Friday and is no work day in Hong Kong as well as Easter Monday. It is quite surprising that Hong Kong acknowledges Holy Week when a lot of people here are atheist, Buddhist, Taoist and something else other than Christians. Quite surprising that a certain country whose people always uses the Bible to argue and condemn science doesn't honor this holiday. Moving on, what else am I doing this weekend? I'm attending a wedding reception on Saturday of one of my colleagues, since it is a lunch banquet I suggested with my teammates to go karaoke afterwards. It's been awhile since we went to one so should be fun. I'm also trying to work out my outfit for that day, it has also been awhile since I dressed up. So I'm gonna out on a bow tie and straps and work it. When you think that four days of holiday isn't enough there is another one 2 days later when the country celebrates Ching Ming Festival! I think I wrote about the holidays on my last post... Who cares?!? It's holiday! Who wouldn't be excited?
Lets talk about my artwork so far. Well currently my artwork has been what I call Tim Burton inspired. Big eyes, head larger than body, disproportional body parts as well as gloomy or morbid I should say. To give you a reminder of who is Tim Burton, he was the guy who made "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Corpse Bride". Oh right! The inspiration I'm referring to are the animated ones because he is also responsible for some live-action films, like Alice in Wonderland, and whole lot of Johnny Depp Movies. I haven't seen most of the Johnny Depp movies, my sister is an avid fan though she has most of his movies and probably seen them all. If only he can show the way to the chocolate factory.
I drew up 3 characters that has this aesthetic, and got me thinking if I should create a story about this characters or get a writer involved then I will provide illustrations. But I'm not a very outgoing person, my circle is small I don't know; no writer. That said if its bound to happen, I will bump into one. I have also drawn this weird looking old androgynous person. It kinda looks Rumpelstiltskin or that Halloween special of Happily Ever After TV show narrated by Pat Morita. As creepy and weird it may be, it seems to be one of the best drawings I've done so far. I don't think this is the first time I came up with this kind of design. At first, I was iffy about it and posted it on Facebook sans the paint brush and photo editing. Then, I did the paint brush effect and later when I got home I did the instagram effects. I have to say it is really one of my best. Last time, I came up with something great on my opinion was 2013 New Year's Day when I drew that crazy rabbit in a feather dress.
I've been listening nonstop to Mutya Keisha Siobhan (MKS) Lay down in Swimming Pools. I have to say it is truly Sugababes 1.0 at its finest and polished state. It was evident on the song the different influences and styles each member has embraced. Mutya's RnB and soul style of singing with her husky voice cover most of the verses and choruses. Keisha's pop and RnB style of singing gave the song a sort Beyoncé effect, she was more of the backup vocals on this one but she did good. Siobhan has a very left-field Alternative style of singing which brought in the bridge of the song before they sampled the original chorus of Swimming pools. It was a very clear style that she did on her second album Ghosts, which I think is a very good album but is definitely not for mainstream pop zombie listeners. I think Sugababes 1.0 was the true RnB girl group of that time over Honeyz. Too bad they can't join the Big Reunion because they all left (got fired) from the Sugababes, and the fake new lineup is holding onto the Sugababes name as if they created it. Yes, Heidi is a bitch. I am now truly enthusiastic and positive about MKS's new album; I can't wait to pre-order this album.
It's raining now and thunderstorm all about and around. It's been dark the past week, this spring in Hong Kong. All rain. Summer has less rain though even autumn, not much rain. While the rain is falling, I started to revive my Hackintosh. It has all my media files, movies and music; so I definitely had to revive it but took me 2 weeks to really do it because you know... I'm lazy LOL. It stopped working and prompted me that it is missing the mach_kernel file when it is indeed there... WTF. So I made a MyHack installer to open up the OSX installer and maybe try to restore my backup. That didn't work because Time Machine is saying that it was a different machine when it's the same one. So I have to do a reinstall of OSX. Thankfully enough, I didn't need to restore from backup because I didn't format the disk so all the files and applications are still there. The only thing is that the network card and audio are not working. I'm reinstalling KEXT files, it's the equivalent of drivers in Windows. I've got the network card working again but the audio is still not recognize so I'm installing from Multibeast.
I don't know what I will be doing tomorrow yet. I will do some Zumba definitely. Then probably go to Golden Center take a look around see what's new. I will definitely have some salmon sashimi as part of my low shit diet. I love salmon sashimi as well so win-win. I may watch some old Ring Movies as well I have the VCD copy. There's nothing like a good scare in this wet and gloomy weather.
