Another Saturday... I feel like I'm living like a Hoarder so I'm cleaning my place. Of course whilst cleaning, we need some background music. I have a very wide range of music genre. I listen to oldies, disco, new wave, techno, rock, pop, RnB and anything that's out there.
There are a lot music out there and some or most gets covered and sung in a different way. So I've decided to just put the original song against a different version. Who sang it best? You decided... Y'all are big enough to think for yourself.
So lets start with someone big for the past 5-6 centuries (JUST KIDDING) Cher. When I first heard this song it was the cover version sung by Sophie Ellis-Bextor then later I found out Cher originally sang "Take Me Home". Sophie did a good job trying to keep Cher's essence while giving her own style of singing.
Then let's listen to a Female to Male Version song with Kylie Minogue's "Hand in Your Heart" and later re-done by José Gonzaléz. This is an interesting cover because the original version was an 80's dance take and José gave it an alternative, slow and soulful cover. The song is about breaking up and heartbreaks which made the alternative version work. You can also check out José's cover of Heartbeats, the same with what he did but the original song was sung sort of punk rock way.
I will only do three because if I did them all... I'll be dead by then LOL.
Last for this post is a song called "Game of Love" both done by Santana but with a different vocalist. Different from the above 2 this was not a cover across time but across generation, Tina Turner and Michelle Branch. The 2 version were record at relatively close time but due to commercial appeal the younger singer's version was selected as a single. I personally love Tina's version it felt like it was really written for her. Michelle's version had a lot more... I dunno gimmick I guess; but still was good because it was such a good song.
Well that's it for now, hope you enjoy this post and the songs ;) til next time. Bitches! LOL
