Wassup? How is everybody? No, I don't really care. So as the rainy Hong Kong Spring season goes on, everything feels so lazy, dark and gloomy. I'm making a new YouTube video as I'm writing this post. The video I'm making is from Lombard Street when I went to San Francisco, CA last year. I'll tell you more when I finish the video and talk more about it on my next post. LOL. What else? I went to my Swedish best friend's store today, a place called IKEA LOL. I love IKEA, I would probably buy the whole store if I were super rich. I love the sort of minimalist and convenient styles on the products they sell. I also love interior designing, I'm not very good but I like to browse through their store. Muji also has this minimalist style on a Japanese point of view, lots of black and white as well as more expensive than IKEA. As colors I prefer IKEA because they have a wider range of colors and design. That said if I own a flat expect it to be an IKEA Catalogue, but I will probably get some of the customer-made cabinets.
I went to the Shatin store because I think it's closer to my place to travel rather than the Causeway Bay store where it's a long travel going home carrying heavy shopping. I didn't stay too long, as I've said I'm afraid I might buy too much. The Shatin store has 3 floors, you start at the top then work your way down. I didn't take a picture inside because it looks weird, me alone taking pictures inside IKEA. More like a sad sight. I like going through their concept rooms, they have bed rooms, living rooms, kitchen and office space. So what did I got from IKEA? First, I got a shoe horn. First thing I saw, then I remembered my flat mate needed one so I got it quickly. Second, I got tissues because I need refill. Walking around, I made it to the kitchen section, plates, cups and all things kitchens. So I got 2 new medium size bowls because I like the ceramic ones instead of plastic. My main objective was to get a picture frame to complete my set on top of my TV.
So before I got to the picture frames I got to the mats and carpets so I got this long cheap mat. I thought I can use it for my Zumba because my wooden floor tend to burn the bottom of my feet. Also, it's nice to sit on especially now that I am writing this post. Talking of Zumba, a little Segway, my asshole was screaming shit three-quarters into the routine LOL. So I got this marpet, I call it marpet now because its a mat but it feels like a carpet. I did want to look at more stuff but the more I get into it the more I crave to buy stuff I don't need and that's not good. Oh before I move on, the only thing I hate about IKEA are their small carts. Those carts are difficult to control, it has a flag for tall people to maneuver but the stick was too loose. I kicked it or caught my foot a couple of times. Then I got my picture frame because I was missing one. Before I got to the warehouse prior to the cashier, there are mirrors. I got another set of square mirrors to extend the current set on my living room. So now I have 8. I quickly walked away from the warehouse after that because they also have displays and sometimes they put discounted stuff around the warehouse. As a normal consumer the words "sale", "discount" and "off" really catches your attention. So I ran to the cashier and paid for my shopping.
I'm thinking whether or not I'll write about RPDR on this post. I think I will write the new episode tomorrow instead. I will write about my drawings instead. Some changes been happening with my artwork lately. I'm using regular pencils, paint brush for blending and highlighters. Yes, highlighter. I'm using highlighters on my drawings mainly because I brought home my color pencils and they are no longer at work. I draw a lot at work these days than at home and since I don't have my color pencils; highlighters are my only option. To be fair though, they do give a good effect on my drawings and they are easy to work with when I use my photo editing apps. Obviously, I use the highlighters to color solid parts of drawings and I can't use them for blushings. My Tim Burton inspired drawings are still on going and has evolve further. I do feel a sort of story going on with the pattern but I'm not a proper writer so story writing is not my forte so to speak.
I do like the effect the highlighters do when I put them into color manipulation. It's as if I selected the area and changed the color but actually I didn't. It is also interesting that the photo editing apps I use on my iPhone literally focuses color change on the parts with the highlights on them. You can see below the swimsuit and shoes of my Betty Boob-esque bunny girl, they change colors. It does save me more time than when I use actual color pencils. Check out my Instagram account to see a lot more of my artwork with after-effects of course, and my Facebook account for the pure un-edited versions. My writing I think has leveled up again. I am now averaging 1000 words per post a jump from my 700 average. It's a good sign that I'm improving and I'm enjoying blogging now. I still don't think I would do a dedicated topic post because I treat my blog as my sort of diary so I will continue to do summaries of my day instead. I will leave you with Day 3 of 2013 NA tour video. I get paid on this one so keep watching! LOL.
